The North Pole No Longer Exists

Once upon a time, in this world turned upside down,a minister of justice ignored the judge. There is a very real storythe world does not understand;and though no one grasps it fully,no one respects it either. There are several outlaws in this story. No one speaks of them, or of what they once were.It speaks of humid rainforests, yet Indigenous peoples will have none of it—not the contempt, nor the disastrous advance. It is also a story of the desert, but the Bedouins want no more sand,no more oil, and no more dead.It is a tale that reaches into cities, though you are weary of being exploitedand sickened by so much cruelty. What is told here, what represents so many, travels across the world—you know it,you live it, you often suffer it,yet almost no one notices.Everyone knows the story,at least some part of it;everyone knows it exists and that it matters,as surely as the stars exist in the sky.It is best left unspoken; it is inconvenientand leaves too many confused.Better to ignore it, to hold everything back,to let none of it spread.Yet it circles the globe—the rich know it, and the poor as well, and ambitious humans, ravenous as wolves. From pole to pole this story endures, though the South Pole already has owners, and the North Pole, of course, no longer exists.
